1) Sturdy, a little big, and super cool. - These boots seem barely reviewed anywhere on the internet, maybe because they're so new? So I was a little apprehensive about the fit when ordering. Have no fear.

Fit - I'm usually between a 10 and an 11 and these only go up to a 10. Turns out the 10 is slightly roomy, so they fit me well, but I think thick socks would be a squeeze... You may want to order down 1/2 size. I have large feet and really narrow ankles/calves so finding boots that don't look comically clown-y can be a struggle, but these look natural and relaxed. UO has some good product photography of a girl actually wearing them if you're looking for a representation of how they hold around the ankle.

Construction - The clasps, which I thought were decorative, are actually functional (and really pretty!) and great for cinching the shaft close to the ankle. The side zip is sturdy and the leather overall is thicker than I thought it would be, which gives it that ruched broken-in look without actually flopping open in uncontrollable ways (steve madden brewzzer, anyone?). The thick leather/thick sole make for an initially stiff fit but wearing them for a bit will probably loosen that up - I'll update my review if it doesn't. I am really impressed with this boot's construction - I've spent more dough on equally tough/femme boots that turned out to be flimsy. I could kick some rocks in these. The matte finish to the leather does seem like the kind that's prone to winter salt stains, so I'll probably end up waterproofing them and losing some of that almost suede-like finish, but the style of the boot seems amenable to wear and tear ('it's not a bug, it's a feature!') so I'm just not concerned.

Overall, two huge thumbs up.

2) Love these super cool, cute boots! - These are kid skin so they seem to stretch a little more than cow hide. Go down half a size. These run longer and a bit more narrow than usual. I wear an 8 1/2 or 9 and these fit me in an 8. I have a wider foot and the 8 is perfect in length, perfect in toe area but are tight across the vamp. They are breaking in nicely but for total comfort, I must wear thinner socks. I tried the 8 1/2 also but sent them back as they were way too long. If you have an average or narrow foot, just go down 1/2 size and they'll fit you perfect. I absolutely love the look of these. I purchased the Ebono which is a rich chocolate brown. They have a bit more shine than the black ones. Love them both! Awesome boots. You won't be sorry but be sure and go down half size.
